SPECIMEN HANDLING
-
For parasitic serology, a minimum of 0.5 to
1.0 ml of serum can be submitted to the laboratory. For test of
Toxocariasis of the eye, a minimum of 0.2 ml of eye fluid is required.
Serum can be sent at ambient temperature in a tightly sealed tube
or vial, however, speciment sent by overnight courier on Blueice
is preferred. Care should be taken to insure against leakage and
the mailing container should conform with U.S. Postal Regulations.
For PCR red cells in an EDTA bluetop Vacutanier is required.
Specimens can be sent by Courier or First Class
